Brandywine
recalls some
teachers, paraprofessionals
Brandywine School
District has recalled 10 of the 23 teachers and 14 of the 44
paraprofessional staff members who were laid off at the end of
the past academic year, superintendent Mark Holodick told
Delaforum. It was not clear to what, if any, extent the number
recalled reflects the district's anticipation of receiving
financial aid from recently enacted federal legislation intended
to save teachers' and other selected government employees' jobs.
Holodick said Brandywine believes that "we will benefit" from
the new law. However, he added, "To this point I have not heard
anything from [the state Department of Education]. Thus, I do
not know specifically how much money [the district] would
receive or how exactly it could be used." |
