One of the peripheral incidents
was release of a chemical
substance. A robotic device was
used to determine what was
involved in the threat.
The
threat was neutralized by a
hazardous-materials team from the
Cranston Heights and Elsmere Volunteer
Fire Companies while New Castle County
paramedics tended to a hostage and a
police officer overcome by the gas.
