Exterior walls
on one side of each wing of the 'L'-shape buildings
are glass. That and large windows on the other side
permit a free flow of natural light. Arms of the
'L's are only 90 feet wide, including a single
exterior corridor.
Interior
corridors (photo below) achieve openness through an
atrium-like design. Each of the four buildings has
its own specific color scheme.
The elbows of
the "L's are designated as common space. The working
areas are open cubicles flanked by individual
offices. But the sense of openness is continued in
the latter by use of frosted-glass rather than solid
walls.
Caine said
there was some initial apprehension about noise
levels and distractions in the open format but added
that, "so far, it seems to be working out" as it was
intended. |
