If you don't think they make buildings today like they used to, you're right as these brick pillars in the Harlan gymnasium attest. The school's interior corridor walls also are brick in the lower half and plaster above. The gym is being renovated and will be given a new floor.

 
 
   
 

Airy and bright describes much of the building. The large ducts at the left will be behind a corridor wall. The school is getting a new heating and ventilation system and air conditioning. Although 70 years old come September when it reopens, Harlan will be in compliance with all building codes and equally up to date educationally.
