To a layman, roadbuilding seems to be pretty much a matter of moving dirt around until everything comes together. The process, however, is exquisitely choreographed with a purpose to each shift. The dirt and stones being dug up, for instance, are slated for use in other DelDOT projects.

     
             
   
 

Directing the work at Blue Ball is Mumford & Miller foreman Bob Rapone (facing the camera). He said that close to 100 workers have been involved at various times. The temporary detour road will join Concord Pike opposite Deerhurst and at Augustine Cut-Off.
